Chained Down - The Hermes Chaine d' Ancre
You’ve probably seen this design weaved in and out of so many Hermes products. So what makes it so special? It was Robert Dumas who found inspiration for this shape in the shipyards of Normandy. There he was fascinated with the anchors of large naval vessels. Fortunately his inventiveness helped to transform these ideas into a bracelet of sterling silver in 1938. To this day, it remains one of the most iconic symbols of the brand. Created in 2011, the Egee clutch subtlety acknowledges Hermes and its deep history of finding design influence from the sea. I can’t think of a more beautiful way to take this emblematic symbol and transform it into an elegant evening piece. – Shop this item
