FEATHER FACTORS REVIEW OF THE TRIM II

For those who know me, you’ve seen me on many occasions carrying my Black or Havanne 31cm Trim II. It’s a comfortable understand handbag that looks great all year. It also happens to be a great buy since online prices for this bag are consistently low and far below the $5,000 + it would retail for.

Blogger Feather Factor’s most recent post shares her experience with the Trim II after borrowing her mothers fabulous Gris Tourterelle. Here is a glimpse at her detailed and accurate review:

Today I thought I would do a review on what I’ve always believed to be a very underrated bag from Hermes – the Trim. I’ve always wanted one of these, but each time ended up getting distracted by something else shiny. I finally ended up borrowing one of my mom’s – to be specific the Trim II model – for a few months, so now am able to give an educated review!

The Trim is one of Hermes’ most classic designs, and is very reminiscent of the Gucci ” Jackie O” bag. There’s been various iterations of this style over the years, and I believe the one I had was the “Trim II” – the differences from the original Trim being a wider base and profile for increased room, as well as a zip top for added security and ease of use.

By the way – I love the color combination of this particular bag too, Gris Tourterelle with gold hardware. Dreamy!

The inside of the Trim is a pretty free space, with one open pocket and another zip pocket. I think this makes it a great all around tourist bag – it sits under your arm so it’s quite secure already, and your passport and other valuable documents can go in the zip.

And finally – all the various items that can fit inside (and more). This is pretty much what I carry in the Trim day to day – any more and the bag does start to bulge out a bit, due to its sleek profile!

I tried to take a few photos of the Trim on me for people to see, but modeling the bag on my currently mini blimp like frame really didn’t do it justice. So instead, here are some great ladies that wear this bag well!

First up – Kelly Rutherford. I always think she has a great wardrobe, and she really knows what colors suit her. She’s using the same exact Trim model that I showed above – the Trim II.

But as well as Kelly wears hers, it’s hard to compete with one of the ultimate heavyweights – Jackie O.

Jackie O’s Trim is a Trim I style (no wider base or zipper), in Barenia and Toile. Gorgeous, no? This version and combination of the Trim is actually one of my favorites – it just looks so smooth and sleek. I actually think the wider base of the Trim II sometimes makes it look a little more mature at times, whereas the Trim I’s silhouette always looks clean and modern.

Overall, I think the Trim is a great bag from Hermes, and one that I would recommended. Sadly, I don’t think this bag is in major production right now, but a major plus is that it is frequently available on eBay and other resale sites at great prices. And by great prices, I mean well under retail (which I believe now would be between $4K-$5K). A quick perusal of eBay recently found some Trim Is and Trim IIs in great condition, most around $1,500 and under.

What do you think of the Trim?
